Try starting in safemode, then try changing the settings on your audio, video, etc. to see if you can replicate the problem. Make sure before you do that you have all the latest patches and drivers, including DirectX. :smirk:

Yeah, see if safe mode works for ya first.

Then, try it with the -sound_off option in the command line in your shortcut properties box. My guess is that the sound is killing you for some reason.

To make the testing a bit easier, you can try FireFly's ever so useful OMF launching app, located here: http://www.geocities.com/justinclaybaby/OMFBGAPP.htm Using that, it'll be easier for you to enable or disable the sound to see if that is your problem.

I knew it worked in safe mode before, but now I know its my sound.

Is there a way to fix it now?

What kind of soundcard do you have? Make sure you have the latest drivers for it, possibly AC'97. Also try turning off 3d sound in the options menu. That seemed to work for me when I was having a similar problem.

It was the 3D Sound Option. Thank you!
