Ping: 220.
Hhm, alright, a bit high (for a FPS type game) but lets give it a go anyway.
*clickety*
"Joining server Nightshadow's server" (you might wanna consider renaming it, BTW, it looks stupid saying server twice).
So, we wait...
Half an episode of Xena later:
"Joining server Nightshadow's server"
Ah, Right...
Coming back from lunch and playing few rounds of AO later:
"Joining server Nightshadow's server"
Groovy. >_>
Sometimes during night, about to turn to bed:
"Joining server Nightshadow's server"

Did we mention OMF:BG rocks online, yet?

Well, it rocks multiplayer. Smile It's just too difficult to get the right set of conditions for it to rock much online (good, non-whiny players; good connection; etc.).

But anyways, I would've tried disconnecting and reconnecting. Not sure what the problem is, my roommate may have been downloading stuff again. I've also noticed load times are longer the longer I leave the server up, but I've got a nasty habit of forgetting to restart the server every night. Surprised

Oh, and I renamed it for ya. :biggrin2:

Alright, connected to your "server server server" server.
Just like I thought, same as with all 3D fast action games.
[filtered] for lag handling, near zero tolerance.
Over 120~150ms and you don't even need to bother to play.
I loved getting [filtered] kicked by a newbish [filtered] AI that just kept randomly blinking all over the place and the slow as [filtered] reactionary times.

There's a reason I don't play FPSes online but only games that either don't require precision aiming or the likes of SubSpace that know how to handle the lag.
All that eye candy engine and ziltch for network code, prediction code and proximity techniques, this is what FPSes get you.
Or TPS, anything involving aim, fast action and 3D.

You've obviously not played many FPS games. I play Planetside with a ping sometimes up to 200 and 2% packet loss. No lag experience in-game.

ut2004 is another laggless fps.

only when your ping gets in the 300's do you start noticeing lag.

note: routers can really increase pings if you get the cheap ones...

Sorry, I don't play crappy, tribes-copycat-poorly-done or otherwise, SOE-Ware.
And I've played quite enough FPSes.

Of course, SOE runs the online bit. The developer isn't however, but rather is a contracter of Sony. Hence, the game is not made by Sony, and the lagless online play is full courtesy of the non-Sory developer and Sony-provided servers.

I don't see a problem.

Whoever develops it (which SOE didn't even bother to mention openly), it's still a SOE game.
And like vanguard, since it's SOE, I won't touch it.
Them fags ain't gonna make a dime off me.

Can you explain this actually? I am quite pleased with the say SOE handles game updates and support.
