Got the parts yesterday, built it today.

OK, specs then:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2,40GHz
Asus p5w DH Deluxe Mainboard (intel 975X)
2GB (2x 1GB) ddr2-800 RAM (4-4-4-12)
Asus en7900gt (nVidia GeForce 7900GT, 256 MB)
250GB HD
Soundblaster X-Fi Fatal1ty (ported over from old pc, kinda pointless to have 2 of those soundcards around)
All stuffed in a Lian-Li pc60b plus-II case

At this time running windows XP Pro (finally a legal copy Wink) and i'm quite pleased with it. Expected stuff to fail on me on the first run, as happens a lot to me, but it's all good Smile And yes I could possibly have done a crossfire setup but I can't afford it right now and this card was on sale.
No overclocking runs as of yet but I do have a 3dmark06 score if you care:
4595 3dmarks
forgot to write down the individual scores... meh.

I guess that's it, just needed to get it out there.

That's a solid system... not to mention the 6600 is a killer overclocking chip, if you're so inclined. Doesn't take a heck of a lot to get it to go up over 4 Smile Pretty solid RAM to boot.

Nice rig... Conroe really does look nice, now that I'm busy paying for school, I can't really afford full system upgrades anymore. Might upgrade my Athlon 64 3000+ to a dual core, would be cheaper than what my 3000+ was originally.

The 7900gt is a nice card. I picked one up a few weeks ago, easily the best card vs. games of its time period I've ever owned.

That's a strong pet.
Let it chew on OMF:BG at max settings for a bit and see how it's holding.

OMF: BG isn't too hard on new system. At 1600x1200, with maxed settings and 16xAF/8xsAA, my rig never dips below 30 fps, although it's getting capped at 50 most of the time by something. Haven't bothered to see if it's gpu or cpu limited, but I'm guessing FraceR's would perform similarly unless there were a lot of AI.

For BG, it's typically CPU limited... the AI and physics seem to be inordinately taxing on a CPU compared to most games. I'm pretty sure that, if you were to spawn 20 AI opponents in BG, you could see noticeable slowdown on a Core 2 Duo, if not a Core 2 Quadro.

Well, since it's not multi-threaded, core 2 quadro wouldn't help a whole lot. Wink

Yeah, forgot about that. Might just be best to OC the bejeebers out of your Core 2 Duo and run it that way (or, once they come out, the Core 2 Solo "Pentium" chips... those could be overclocking beasts).

Just wondering, how much did you dish out for the 7900 GT?

Considering what computer hardware runs in Europe, I almost would hate to ask... if I were to venture a guess, I'd be thinking somewhere around 300 euro. No clue, though.

That's actually quite good, considering the card runs around $250 in the US from online shops...
