Yeah, we had a bit of a flash flood, and my car was parked in the wrong spot. lol It sucks, but it looks like my car will be ok. I gutted out the seats and carpet so they can dry properly, and my car seems to run just as well as it did before.

That sucks about the flood. Your engine should be fine though. Maybe a little cleaner on the outside. Wink

Good to see it survived.

Yeah, it seems the only real damage was to the starter... and that was more my fault than anything. I pulled the carpet and seats to make sure everything dried out completely and didn't get the flooded car smell. I left the car sitting for about a week to do this without starting it up or anything, and now the starter is frozen. I'm hoping I can fix the starter myself, I don't really want to buy a new one. Sad

The car runs great when I push-start it though... yabba-dabba-doo!!! Very Happy

are you sure its the starter? the battery likely drained (probably to the point it was damaged and doesn't hold the charge it used to) being so well grounded. (grounded to the frame, frame sitting in water, sitting on cement)

I would toss a charger on that thing overnight at 2amp deep cycle just to be sure.

you can also turn the headlights on and then start the car. If they below half brightness the battery likely needs to be replaced. If they don't dim at all the relay or a fuse probably went out.

But if it did just freeze up then just hit it with a rubber mallet a few times as someone turns the key. Always worked for me with my old beater I used to have. But then again I didn't park it in a lake... Wink

Yeah, it was the starter. I pulled the starter out and tore it apart, and it works now. No more push-starting the car, woot! Pulling the starter apart probably wasn't necessary, but I was curious. Smile

My dad also mentioned hitting the starter, and I tried hitting the starter lightly with a hammer. It might've worked if I'd have hit it harder, but I was afraid I'd do more harm than good.

The battery did also die (it wouldn't hold a charge for very long), but I replaced that early last week. I was glad it was still under warranty! Very Happy

My motorcycle was in a photo shoot yesterday, and here's the first photo I have from that. I never knew my bike could look so good! Very Happy

Ah, that would be the 500cc model. You must inform her of the trouble she's going to face trying to shift in those heels.

I had a good year riding this summer. I managed to get my odometer to read 30,000 miles in September.. then on October 1st we saw an instant loss of about 20 degrees F. Dropping from 60F to 40F and lower has made it difficult to get out and ride to work on those rainy mornings.
