Aye all!
First of all, it's been a while!!!
I'm trying to get OMF:BG running on my PC again, but I'm failing miserably.
Got a VM XP machine running and everything, BUT...
Somewhere in the past I've lend my copy of OMFBG to a friend, and never got it back...
So I need to use an illegal copy. These are unpatched though.
When I patch them, the added hacked launcher doesn't work anymore
I don't want to use the unpatched version, for many reasons, but how can I get it to work again?? _________________ P4 CPU 2.4 Ghz, 512 MB RAM 333Mhz

Yes got it! Found some edited exe files.
Only problem I now still face is that the game doesn't run very smooth. Any enhancement suggestions for Oracle VM?
Got the video memory set to 128MB and 2gigs of RAM, and 3d enhancement is on...
The strangest is that I can't edit the video setting in the game itself? The buttonswon't react, while other settings buttons do... _________________ P4 CPU 2.4 Ghz, 512 MB RAM 333Mhz

Hi Raptor!
Good to hear from you again!
Heh, running it with DosBox? You are confused with OMF2097 I guess... _________________ P4 CPU 2.4 Ghz, 512 MB RAM 333Mhz

Why is this same issue spread across "The Game", "Tech Talk", and "Off Topic"???

As for the patches, I have all of them... if you know what I mean. I seem to have the largest cache of OMF: BG related materials as well, although some of them are in a grey area when it comes to public release, ie. mod tools. _________________ I'm not crazy, I'm sanity-challenged.

Why are the mod tools still considered a grey area for a game that's basically dead? It's been ~10 years now. |

@nova10:
If you'd like to attempt to get ahold of Rob to officially give notification that the mod tools can be released, go ahead I've tried a few times and the best I succeeded at was getting one reply from Ryan Elam but no notice on the status of the mod tools. The other "grey area" stuff has to do with stuff I had from the beta.
- pilot descriptions that everyone submitted - about 40% verbatim, while another ~25% were used partially and the rest were by DE.
- some design doc stuff
- chat logs from discussing stuff with Wayne, Rob, Judy, etc that *may* be in the grey area. _________________ I'm not crazy, I'm sanity-challenged.

I think I found the right Rob Elam on Facebook and sent him a message. Hopefully, I'll get a response. |

If, by some chance, it actually *is* the real Rob and he actually gets a response, kudos. However, considering Ryan basically sits down the hall from him at SOE and I got as far as Ryan saying "hi". I get very much the impression that Rob just wants to keep to himself now, as OMF: BG really didn't turn out anywhere near as well in the end as I know he was hoping it would. My guess would be that Justin would possibly be able to get a response from him, if anyone still but it is highly doubtful. _________________ I'm not crazy, I'm sanity-challenged.

It's still very disappointing though. We all stood by Rob and man we all enjoyed the game he created. It's just very depressing to be tossed aside by him I guess. _________________ Xaronth's System Specs
