Basically a yuppie is trying to get some, but he has to overcome the biggest cock block in the history of mankind.

Most overhyped piece of new-age garbage I've ever seen. Had some hot girls, though. Especially that half Pakistani one. Save your money and just record that old Godzilla vhs tape with your home camera (shake it around though, don't use a tripod) and at least you will expect 90 minutes of BS.

Overhyped?

Geez, I hadn't even heard of the movie! I guess it just shows how little I'm paying attention to what's going on outside of university...

Wait so is this a wannabe Godzilla or a wannabe American Pie? I thought it was the former but you make it sound like the latter?

Also... do we hate everything?

It looks like a movie deliberately not telling us what to expect in order to get curiosity views. Care to tell us what the hell the movie's even about?

Yeah, the Blair Witch style advertising campaign kinda turned me off.

In a way, the cinematography worked. I was reasonably curious about the monster around the time the city begins being destroyed and the guy holding the camera says "I saw it!" The sound was also really good. These however, are just strives by the production team. The writing was severely lacking. (My apologies to any fans of Lost) The movie was incredibly cliche. Beginning with the main character coming to the decision to rescue his ex-girlfriend because it was "his fault," despite the fact that the slut had brought her new boyfriend to the dude's farewell party, the movie went on to be almost identical with previous monster flicks.

It wasn't entertaining simply because I didn't give a banmeplease about the one dimensional characters, and since the movie was about their relationships, it ended up sucking. The movie barely went into any details explaining about what I came to see, the freaking Cloverfield monster.

Oh yeah, and apparently there was political symbolism.

Just saw it tonight.

Action was pretty good, cool explosions. Interestingly, the only believable character was the guy holding the camera.

Most of the "scares" were predictable. "Hey it's so dark in here!" "Hang on this camera has night vision it will help us let me turn it on!" *Fiddles with camera for a few seconds* Yeah ok I'm totally not expecting anything to be there when the scene lights up.

Overall it was a good movie, I enjoyed it. There were some hidden details that add to the whole mystery aspect that a keen eye would pick up. I caught a few, but I wouldn't want to bother watching it again just to look for more stuff.

When I first saw the trailer (it seemed pretty clear what direction the movie would take, either a monster or some sort of disaster) I had one question: are they going to show the camera man changing batteries? So, DO they? I don't really want to go see it, but I want this question answered.

So basically you're comparing it to the Transformers movie, where they do their best to ruin any appeal the movie had by introducing a terrible teenage-drama plot?

Sounds like it. Stick to old Godzilla movies.
