In an effort to clean up the database of the thousands of bot registrations, I have been going through and manually deleting the ones I think look suspicious of being bots. It is possible that I've deleted a real user's account in the process. However, I will not delete a user's account if they have any posts before looking at the posts. So if your account was killed, then register again and you should be good to go.

I'm now going through and purging the system of all users with 0 posts. While this will end up deleting some lurker's posts, they can easily re-register. There are simply too many spam bots to go through the thousands of users by hand.

Thanks for your understanding.

Understanding, I've tried deleting a few thousand spam-bot accounts manually myself.

With the forums open to registration again, I invited an old friend back.

Now I won't have a 6-year old account like everybody else... Confused

Well, if you got deleted in this purge, then it was because you had 0 posts, if so, then having a 6 year old account wouldn't count for much :p

If you had posts on that account, then it might have been you got purged in one of the earlier purges when transiting from one forum software to another, there was quite alot of people beeing lost back then. But that has been a few years back.

All know is that I didn't post much; in fact, I searched my user name and found no posts by me.

Out of boredom, I found evidence of my presence Very Happy :

On a side note: I have the bragging right to say that I started to play OMF: BG before my age hit the double digits (age 9), and that OMF: BG was the first multi-player online game I've played.

Haha old fart! Well that just goes to show how much of our young lives this forum has sucked out of us ! (and we didn't even notice ? nasty...)

The best part is the forum turned into how you described the old forum. One post a week lol

And now you just spiked the average WAY up. Wink

The omf.com domain is now sold and is in the process of switching hands. So I'm not sure how much longer that forward I put in will work. Google will pick this site back up though and it will be able to be found in a search. I might try to throw a robots.txt file somewhere on it or submit the link. But that will all depend on how much extra time I have, which isn't a whole lot these days.

I can't believe it's been 8 years.

I can't believe I came back here at all, really.

I can't believe I still had OMF:BG installed.

I can't believe I still found it fun.

I can't believe it's been nine and a half years...
