AMD's new pricing:
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Corporate/VirtualPressRoom/0,,51_104_609,00.html
Newegg and Tigerdirect have yet to reflect this new pricing. It seems they are going to liquidate old stock first (Newegg) or milk an insanely huge markup (Tigerdirect) for a few days. To heck with it, I'm getting a Core Duo. _________________ "The unofficial first person to edit their sig since 2009! Possibly 2008."

ncix lowered their prices a couple days ago.
You mean Core 2 Duo? I'm wondering when Core 2 Duo will actually be available for the masses, Intel only expects Core 2 Duo to comprise ~20% of their total cpus being shipped by the end of 2006. Considering Dell and other OEM manufacturers get first stab at all the new processors, that might not leave a whole lot of boxed cpus for us to order. |

According to the last time I recall checking its release date, it should be out before the end of the month, and it's called Core 2 Duo, not Core Duo 2. :p _________________

Core 2 Duo is actually out now... whether we'll see many by the end of the year is another story, though. _________________ Official forum economist. Explodes when thrown.

Well, according to the Inquirer, Intel will release the Core 2 Duo to the public on the 27th.
I've been waiting since May for the new hardware to come out. It's almost a losing battle. As soon as something new comes out that was totally necessary, something else totally necessary is coming out 2 weeks later. I've decided that as soon as video cards support DX 10, I'm putting $1100 USD into a new machine. _________________ "The unofficial first person to edit their sig since 2009! Possibly 2008."

Problem is, ATI and Nvidia set their roadmaps to create the DX10 cards by this month, but Vista was pushed back to (March 2007 was it?), so we don't know if they'll be announcing their newest hardware now or wait till later to improve and increase the model availability. From the leaked information, it seems (to me at least) that ATI will have the upper hand. _________________

Vista is supposed to launch in January, and the DX10 cards are supposed to first hit the market sometime in September. Even for those who aren't upgrading to Vista, the DX10 cards have a massive number of pipelines, and should be absolute beasts in DX9 gaming. _________________ Official forum economist. Well of course. I'm waiting a few weeks to hear customer reviews and general opinion on their stuff, and then buying one myself without a doubt. _________________

I'll wait to see some DX10 benchmarks, as I don't want to pick up this next generation's equivalent of a GeForceFX... but that shouldn't take long into 2007. _________________ Official forum economist. Explodes when thrown.

Although that's just a slightly pumped-up X1900XT, a DX9 part...
From reading another article, both G80 and R600 have slipped off the 2006 roadmaps entirely. _________________ Official forum economist. Explodes when thrown.
