ok on iron fist I have 3 cheatlords/2 tyras and one walter, 2 forces/tyra and dawn, 2 jags/tyra and christian, and 1 mantis/kegan.
now for my team I have all of one har. except me I was always in a mantis helping out best I could without cheating. (oh, come on we all stood in the center of that rotateing platform at some point )
now what suprises me is the results of a ten round battle faught ten times on a random map.
mantises really, really suck, I mean they are the bottom performers by far. in 10 games the best I could muster up for them is a measly 7 round win. the other 9 times were like 5 and below... this surprised the crap out of me. I thought for sure they would spiderball spam thier way to victory but no they didn't, they lost terribly no matter what pilots I picked or what stratagies I employed. tis a sad day for mantis fans...
gargoyals do very well, performing well enough to put put the burden of winning on the players ability to fight. they win mostly because of thier air ownage. anything jumps or gets hit up in the air will be instantly greeted by wings and tallons..
cheatlords of course do very well, in some cases I just stood back and watched them relentlessly throwing and projectile spamming thier opponents. in some cases a couple would stand back from the pack and purelly projectile spam. even more suprising (well I guess not "suprising" as they are cheatlords after all ) is the fact they win by not useing any supers at all. just mindless tossing whatever is near them.
pyros easily defeat the other team by spining fire in every direction. even doing godlike multi super fire spins on the same target repeatedly. in some cases they would get a sticky fireball on a few opponents giving pyros the clear advantage.
another surprise to me was chronos, they did pretty good dispite thier crappy status among the community. like the gargoyals it depended on how good I did that particular round (but much more so). I was getting aggravated by the super time freeze thing they do constantly hitting my own guys till I realized something. when the did that they were actually kinda "preserving" the players caught in it so there where more of them alive to fight the weaker players at the end. and trust me... you do not want to get cought in a group of like 5 chronos. they teleport kick you into submition and then do a super of thier choosing just for the fun of watching you explode I think...
the biggest suprise to me was jags. omg, they completely pwn the field. I mean, it even says in thier description that they are not designed to fight multiple opponents. but they just completely dominate everything. they work best in packs, ganging up on unsuspecting victoms. I watched 4 of them superdash the crap out of walter in a warlord after like half a second he was dead after haveing full health. I mean the other team mates don't even get a chance to run over and help the guys split off from the group. the jags are like piranha after a piece of very bloody meat... thier super dash can catch multiple opponents and when 2 or 3 do it at the same time with a few others pokeing in shots here and there nothing lives after the first 2 or 3 moves then they find thier next targets and repeat... and if you put in a pilot that is good in a jag, forget about beating them.
I didn't get the time to do the other hars but I thought I would post what I found here for discussion since thier hasn't been anything but ad bots posting in this forum for awhile...
my take on the results is it's purely the way the ai was designed for that particular har. I always known that the ai in jags were better than the rest but even if you go that route in explaining it you have to consider the bugs with the cheatlord AI, and it still easily wins.
anyway it's something to think about while your screwing around at work _________________ "Float like a Mantis, sting like a Cheatlord..."

Interesting. The Jag AI is obviously quite good, but I think that's because the AI in general uses a lot of counters, long-range moves, and random supers and that's what Jag is really good at. Warlord has the advantage of having more starting power and endurance (so random moves doing equal damage to both will let Warlord win), plus randomly doing specials is almost always a good idea with Warlord. (With claws, it'll make them move into the fray!)
Chronos is devalued in the community because it's lackluster 1v1. In any sort of multiplayer chaos, though, I make them a priority, because it's almost impossible to beat a Chronos and anyone else 2v1 due to teleport kick and freeze crystal shenanigans. Unfortunately, because the AI loves to do its moves at max range, Chronos ends up doing a lot of super freezes |

Did you try Katana?
Probably the most underrated HAR, very awesome for free for alls and team games, Horrizontal Blade Spin Super Through a Crowd FTW
I also just want to plug the OMF Playgroup (which now takes other messengers) here since if we had a few more people, preferably someone to host in North America/Canada, we could have awesome team games like that |

yes katanas, actually were n the same boat as mantises. (but slightly better) while they landed hit after hit they just couldn't cause enough damage. and thier light armor meant a few cheatlord grabs/counters and they die. the moves they did constantly got countered by the jags, and were constantly grounded by forces.
Forces actually would do well if the meteor, gravwell, homeing explosive ball, and vortexs didn't hit alies, but they do... thier counters also leave them open to attack from multiple opponents. just when it looked like we would win one of them would supermeteor the group and wipe out 3 or 4 allies... occasionly one of them would send out a black hole sucking up most of the 16 player field which was entertaining.
but yeah, jags still rule the field. even when I pitted jags vs pyros. although the pyros team at least won a few times.
also, it seems that the better the block/counter per hit ratio the better the ai do reguardless of the other stats that pilot posseses. _________________ "Float like a Mantis, sting like a Cheatlord..."
