Folks on the IRC channel already know this, but I figured I might as well mention this here as well: I found a copy of the v2217 BG beta (including editor) on my old HDD backup, so pretty close to the last version that was ever available.

I've been trying to figure out the DEObjects file format. I haven't found out much, but what I have found out, I've tried to record on raptor's wiki.

In the process, I managed to make a custom pilot (complete with pilot picture and biography) and got it to work in the v2172 executable; in other words, it's usable without needing a beta build for it to function properly. Pics or it didn't happen.
