I came across this Engine that looks pretty cool (unlike the unreal3 engine, rather wait to tinker with that).

This engine is ment for games or visual graphics, which reminds me of Valve's source engine, but with more things like volumetric light and HDR. What I also like about it is that it seems simple, (but I've been a fool for things before) and that the platform can run on linux.

Also I think they just updated the engine to have 3d studio Max and Maya, more 3DS with though.

So even though it's kind of expensive to buy, (mine a cheep guy that goes for free stuff), it's still cool to look at.

second that, recommends. Still can't get it to work, don't think it's a bug with Unigen. So go download the demo.

If I was to get a game engine as an amateur dev, I wouldn't buy one... I'd get somethin like CrystalSpace, or that other one I've forgotten the name of but it starts with a G

crystal space is a pretty good engine.

the thing that Unigen gets to me is the HDR and soft shadow with physics, it's so fun to mess with physics simulations. Though the Unigen moive could have made a better presentaion of what can be destroyed. Also it said it had an easy C++ API.

yhea planescape is something else. Cystal space has features that use some advacned OpenGL, but that won't be put into planeshift for quite a while, because it would require a more powerful PC which means fewer people playing the game. They want to slowly add in the effects after when it's really stable, oline games should worry more about the net code and playablity then graphics.

Planeshift is a great game that should be respected in it's own way.

BTY I updated my driver from omegadrives and it works now. It's pretty cool.

I can't even play the current version of Planeshift on my video card. I can only imagine how good it will look when more effects are added.

The current spell effects are better then any spell effects I have ever senn in games of this type. ESPECIALLY non profit games. THAT is why crystal space == own.

Pay close attention to the smoothness of the wind spell. It is nothing special on its own, but it looks so smooth and... soft even...
