and it's amazing, took 4 days to get it running, the power supply book makes no mention that it's 8 pin connector is actually 2 4 pins that snap together or come apart for C2D/P4 systems, but it's purring now
And specs, since i know you love them!
Intel Pentium D 925 3ghz (Love this thing)
Corsair 2gb 675mhz ram 4-4-4-12 DDR2 x2, both banks full
ECS nForce 570 SLIT-A Socket 775 Mobo
Nvidia XFX 7900Gt 256mb Dual DVI Vidcard
Capped off with an Xfinity 600w PSU, 19" LCD, Apevia Navigator (Black) case, 3 blue 80mm LED Fans, a 120mm LED Fan, and 2 Blue cold cathode lights on the case bottom
Internal temp hasnt topped 84F yet, a bit on the loud side, the CPU heatsink is a bit huge and the fans a bit loud, but i like the hum
And OMFBG? once i got the settings right, full detail at 1024x768 with 16 players doesnt lag, even in space station/pplant/haishiro, but it does drop to around 35fps, i may shell out for a second vidcard, the mobo came with a brdige for that purpose, but it's not necessary yet
Total cost? $1600-ish, counting all my lighting, a DVD-RW +/- drive and the 2 extra 80mm fans, i just reused the HD and CD/CDRW Drives from my old system
Worked like a charm first try, no problems yet after almost 2 weeks, mow i just have to wait for my rebates -.-'

to bad you don't have a quad core intel chip and a geforce 8 series.
just kidding.
the omfbg at 16 "players" with normal framerate sounds awesome, how does it play?
edit:
haha you got me there _________________ http://omfmods.proboards18.com the forum just for omf mods is open.

It plays just like a lower quality computer playing OMFBG with 4 robots... _________________

lurker is right - it plays like omfbg!
I know what you mean though, it plays great, no choppiness, no lag, fast load times, compared to my old system, it plays 10x better
Edit: heck my old comp nearly died at 8 players...16 would have fried the vidcard! _________________

it's not your computers fault for crashing during oblivion.
mine crashes every 2-3 hours playing that buggy game. _________________ "Float like a Mantis, sting like a Cheatlord..."

I don't have anywhere near that much of crash issues with Oblivion... I think I've put about 30 hours in, and have had about four crashes since the patch.
And, speaking of user masochism... I run the game at medium detail at 1280x1024 (changed to have grass at minimum and increases in shadow and lighting detail), and I have an Athlon 64 3000+ and a GeForce 6600... _________________ Official forum economist. Explodes when thrown.

That's four crashes too many as far as I'm concerned.
You've played 30 hours with four crashes; that's a crash every 7.5 hours. Still think that's not anywhere near every 2-3 hours? |

As far as the original post is concerned; you should have waited for either the geforce 8800 to go down in price or for ati to come out with thier dx10 compatible card. Because iirc you can only sli video cards of the same core. |
