Check this out.
Runs rather slow on my system (might be partially due to Vista, the other GeForce 8-series demos run okay, though), but still is a phenomenal demonstration. Even more so considering it's only DX9... _________________ Official forum economist. Explodes when thrown.

wow, how lame is that? just one head? my good ol' nintendo can draw several character heads at once...
heh, seriously though, that looks pretty cool but it'll be awhile before it can actually be used in games though I think. Plus that's quite a bit of texture overhead just to get a realistic skin effect. _________________ "Float like a Mantis, sting like a Cheatlord..."

It's shader overhead, but yeah... there is quite a bit. Gaussian sums are never simple.
Still, however, it's about as insane as one will probably see from a DX9 demo. _________________ Official forum economist. Explodes when thrown.

The greatest thing about technology advancement:
We'll look at this post two years from now and laugh because those graphics will be obsolete by that time. _________________ "He who has a why to live for can bear with almost any how."

Quoted for emphasis.
Remember the Dawn demo years back, with the launch of the GeForce FX?
Remember how that demo turned your GPU into a gibbering wreck?
Remember how we all thought that looked so incredibly awesome?
Look back at it now; it still looks okay, but nothing phenomenal, and a recent video card can run it without any issues whatsoever (getting triple-figure framerates on the Ultra version of the Dawn demo). _________________ Official forum economist. Explodes when thrown.

It is saying something when a DX9 tech demo is more awe-inspiring than any DX10 game or tech demo out there at present... granted, this thing is a computational beast (even after overclocking my GPU from 500/800 to 675/1150, it still runs dog slow), but it goes to show what is possible... _________________ Official forum economist.
