OMFBG works fine on Vista but does anyone know why when I press the escape key, the in game menu doesn't show. Also, the game doesn't let me enter a player name as I press backspace on my keyboard and nothing happens. Apart from these two flaws the game is great!!! I've got an inkling it might be my USB keyboard can anyone confirm this? |

I have the same problem with text. I can't type any text at all. The game works fine, but you just can't type . Can you post a screenshot of whats wrong with your menu? I'm not sure what you mean. It simply isn't there? _________________ I wish I still had some jag rolls |

There isn't much to show, I press the escape key in the middle of any match and the in game menu doesn't show. So to quit the match I have to hit alt f4 and start the game all over again. For example: if I want to change a graphics setting I cant bring up the in-game menu while fighting for some reason it just doesn't show. Instead I have to exit the game by pressing alt f4 and then change the settings from the menu screen. |

It's actually a problem in Vista, they broke one of the keyboard handling methods that many games use. I've been hoping they'd fix it, but they haven’t commented on it AFAIK. I've seen some suggestions as to how it may be fixed (none from MS though) but I haven't tested any of them since I'm not supporting Vista yet (been waiting for it to be ready for release ). FYI, I have no specific plans for Vista patches for OFM:BG. |

Well that takes care of the typing, but do you have any idea about the in game menu problems? I don't recall anyone else ever having problems with it... _________________ I wish I still had some jag rolls |

I was assuming it was caused by the keyboarding issue, I'd have to test it in Vista to see if it's another problem as well. |

what's in your laptop for hardware though.
In CompUSA I saw a $2,000 laptop with an intel graphics processor in it...
So just because it's new doesn't mean much. _________________ "Float like a Mantis, sting like a Cheatlord..."

go to the device manager, that lists pretty much everything.
The main thing though would be the graphics card, manufactures usually place a sticker or something by the keyboard to gloat about the graphics capabilities. If thier isn't one... well you probably got an intel chip which can't run much of anything... _________________ "Float like a Mantis, sting like a Cheatlord..."

So, any news for Vista yet? I just tried to play, while the game itself works fine, I can't get the menu or reassign keys (which is a problem for me, as I can't play with the default settings).
Surely I'm not the only one using vista? _________________ A wiki about klingon - the language |

There has been no fix and no solution has been found on my end. The game works well enough without the menu but it would be convenient if we could actually use it again. The issue is also present in Windows 7. As for not being able to play with the default settings that is an issue but with the keyboard handling broken I don't see a way of reassigning the controls. |

Hrm.
That's too bad.
Does anyone know where OMF saves the keyboard mappings? There must be a config file, or registry setting for that, no? _________________ A wiki about klingon - the language |
