Posted: Mon Apr 19, 2010 12:18 pm Post subject: OMF Message Board Now on justinoakley.com |
|
|
The omf.com domain name is no longer being maintained and will likely change to something else at some point. However, I have moved the message board and it's 1.3GB worth of MySQL data over to my justinoakley.com domain. It seemed the most appropriate of the domains that I own.
What does this mean? you might ask... Well, the message board will stay the same. new registrations will be allowed again. And it will no longer be at forums.omf.com. it will be at the host and domain you see now.
PLEASE UPDATE YOUR BOOKMARKS/FAVORITES to be:
http://omf.justinoakley.com
Raptor helped me out quite a bit with the change over. I will be maintaining this message board to s small degree. But it will be maintained. If anyone notices a lot of bots or something, send me an email or PM. I'll see if I can turn on an email notification if I get a PM or something like that.
Anyway, post your comments if you want. _________________ Justin Oakley

I feel it is a necessity to present the forums with an active moderator. "Active" by this forum's standards, anyway. Simple logic here being that two bot patrols are better than one. _________________ "The unofficial first person to edit their sig since 2009! Possibly 2008."

Just did a limited check (since phpBB 2.x refuses to show actual user type in most cases). From what I've seen Raven is not a moderator, he is at least not listed in the moderator usergroup, nor does he seem to have recived a user title of such.
I could be wrong, since the software refuses me to actually see a users type in even userlist or profile.
And not to speak ill of my good friend Ravo, but he is hardly a frequenter here nowadays, and have always had a knack for dropping of the face of the earth when me or Crusher tries to get hold of him. He certainly has the technical skills though.
Of the current Moderators I believe both killer_roach and Robyrt are semi active, and checks in almost daily (if memory serves). The traditional problem has usually been access to administrators, as Rob have never bothered much with that part, and both Wayne and Malfrex are quite difficult to get hold off.
...I'm ranting again... why don't you guys ever stop me before I get this bad! _________________ - Jon Eirik * www.omf2097.com * www.omf2097.com/wiki * https://discord.gg/sT8YU2E <- OMF Discord |

Raptor's right, I'm active on these forums now but later is a different story.
Send my regards to Crusher. I think of you guys often, even if my life keeps me offline. _________________ "The unofficial first person to edit their sig since 2009! Possibly 2008."

I had a look through the recent joiners (the few with a 2010 registration), didn't see anything really troublesome. I did notice you deleted "Carbon Rod"'s one post (It is an old joke account from Raven, not *technically* a spammer).
Noticed there was 3 accounts with a website, didn't see anything really bad about them, not that they made much sense either. But as long as the anti spam registration works, those should have been added after registration. _________________ - Jon Eirik * www.omf2097.com * www.omf2097.com/wiki * https://discord.gg/sT8YU2E <- OMF Discord |

Carbon Rod asked me to express his discontent regarding the Captcha system. His question was "Is Justin Oakley a super genius?" and his answer "..." which translates to [Yes!] was not validated. His second attempt "..." [No!] was also not validated.
Carbon Rod has summed up his feelings regarding the captcha with the phrase "..." which I feel are three very interesting points. _________________ "The unofficial first person to edit their sig since 2009! Possibly 2008."

Ahh.... The possible answers to that question are:
Yes
Definitely
Fo-shizzle
sure
And I think it may be case sensative. So I added a couple to the list:
Yes
yes
damn right
Definitely
Fo-shizzle
sure
So now the answer of "yes" will work as well as "Yes".
I deleted Carbon Rod ... Or one other one because t seemed like a temporary account while some user issues were being worked out. IIRC, that account only had 1 post associated with it. _________________ Justin Oakley

And here I thought it was gone for good... Glad I googled omf.com today.
Still play OMF:BG against 3 bots to keep myself sharpish if anyone is interested.
Thanks for saving the boards reguardless! _________________ "Float like a Mantis, sting like a Cheatlord..."
