The only problem that I have with it right now is that, with the heatsink I currently have, the CPU overheats if I peg all eight logical processing units at 4.5 GHz (although it still does okay with only four being stressed at that speed). Got a new Zalman heatsink, though, so that should take care of that issue
Oddly enough, I'm still able to encode video faster on my GPU than my CPU... _________________ Official forum economist. Explodes when thrown.

Haven't looked at my performance numbers on that game yet, although I'm sure that I'm likely GPU-bound. After all, the 560Ti, while good, is no high-end card. Might need to look into a second one (my board supports 3-way SLI, but I'm not that crazy). _________________ Official forum economist. Explodes when thrown.

Yeah. I have a single GTX 580 that's overclocked. My MoBo supports 3 sli too, but the cards are so large that I couldn't physically plug them all in. Also, my Harddrive is PCI Express (same with sound card. So I would have no room for more cards. I got a mild bump in performance when OCing the CPU and RAM, but the biggest gain came from the GPU bumping.
I used fraps to get the FPS. _________________ Justin Oakley

Just got a new Zalman heatsink... CPU is now running rock-solid at 4.6GHz, and is mostly stable at 4.8. Might tweak the voltage to see if I can get it up to 5 - thermals really aren't a problem anymore (thankfully).
Then again, I bought the 2600K mostly for video work, and the recent proliferation of CUDA-enabled encoders has made using the CPU a joke (routinely cracking 100 FPS with 1080p h.264 encodes using MediaEspresso). I may just let the CPU be in a more "normal" range just so as to reduce noise. _________________ Official forum economist. Explodes when thrown.

Still have my old Core 2 Quad rig with DDR2 in it... had no choice but to go to DDR3 with a Core i7 setup, though.
Considering DDR3 is much cheaper anymore, though, I can't really complain. (I think I paid $75 for the 16GB in my system, and I've seen 8GB kits anymore as cheap as $30-35.)
Overall, have the CPU running pretty much stable at 4.8 with a little extra voltage, but the lack of need for it has had me drop down to around 4.4 - 4.5 for everyday usage (maximizing performance while allowing the fan to operate at less than full speed). _________________ Official forum economist. Just did a bit of extra tweaking, and now have the system stable at just under 5 GHz. Keeping it down around 4.4-4.5 for most ordinary tasks, though. _________________ Official forum economist. Explodes when thrown.
